Shade Shifter – Original Acrylic Painting (16"x20")

This painting is a collaboration with my 10-year-old son. He selected the colors, poured the paint onto canvas, and used a blow dryer to guide its movement. As the paint settled, I took inspiration from the patterns that appeared and painted imagery over the background, staying true to his creation.

Shade Shifter captures a chameleon at rest, blending into its surroundings while still holding a clear presence. The piece combines controlled linework with a fluid, abstract background created through acrylic pours.

The layered greens and natural tones create movement across the surface, while the form of the chameleon remains structured and defined. This contrast between flow and control is central to the composition.
